However...
Sunday evening = solitary sewing = absolute heaven!
I sliced up and sewed together a bunch of fabrics that have been waiting a while. In fact, I tamed them slightly in the end.
When I started out with my rotary cutter I was supremely confidant that I was putting all the right fabrics together.
About half way through, when they were on the design wall, I was completely and utterly convinced it was going to be one of the biggest patchwork and quilting disasters humankind has ever seen.
I continued on, partly because I thought I should at least try to have the courage of my convictions, but partly because the impending train wreck involved some of my favourite fabrics. Painful and expensive!!
The only thing is, (come close and I'll whisper). I used fat quarters, so there's a join down the middle! The perfectionist in me is slightly irritated by this, and wishes I'd ordered long quarters in the first place, but I think I've done a pretty good job of matching and fussy cutting. And when you see who this quilt is for in a couple of months (and no, I'm not having a baby), I'm sure you will agree that it doesn't matter at all!
p.s. I'm partying here, here, here and here!
It doesn't matter at all :-)
ReplyDeleteLooks lovely from where I'm sitting Ruth!
Love those fabrics. Finally took 5mins to have a look at your blog - will be back again soon.
ReplyDeleteI love that mix of fabrics together and am wanting a number of them for myself. It is going to be a beautiful quilt.
ReplyDeleteThat is absolutely gorgeous! Really looking forward to seeing it finished. And well done for carrying on, I find it so hard to keep going with projects I'm not sure about but it just goes to show, you were right about the fabrics in the first place!
ReplyDeleteThe fabrics look gorgeous together! I love the pop of red in the colors! And no worries about the seam...nobody will even notice!
ReplyDeleteIt's just my opinion, but I think it all works wonderfully! Love how the red adds a bit of change to give the quilt top a pop.
ReplyDeleteNot just beautiful, it's BEAUTIFUL!
